POSITION SUMMARY: The Senior Special Education Specialist will maintain an intimate knowledge of special education practices, laws, and procedures. This role requires maintaining relationships with partner schools to collect, coordinate, and distribute special education information, respond to stakeholder questions and develop cooperative solutions for students. The Senior Special Education Specialist will support Michigan Virtual staff in providing support services to students with IEP and/or 504 plans in our online, asynchronous environment as well as ensure compliance to Special Education guidelines and laws. Concurrently, this position is responsible for supporting Michigan Virtual instructional staff in appropriate application of accommodations designated for enrolled students. Additionally, there is a desire to extend opportunities for professional development to our school partners in the design and implementation of appropriate accommodations to support students in an asynchronous online environment.
