Assistant Professor of Special Education (Tenure Track)
The Ohio University Gladys W. and David H. Patton College of Education, Department of Teacher Education is accepting applications for an Assistant Professorof Special Education (Tenure Track) position. Candidates should have experience and expertise related to the identification and provision of services for students with low incidence disabilities. Additional expertise in the planning for and the provision of post-school transition services for individuals with low incidence disabilities is preferred. The successful candidate will be primarily responsible for the delivery of the Moderate to Intensive face-to-face undergraduate and online graduate licensing programs. Candidates must be committed to teaching excellence, a clinical approach to teacher education, and service delivery within inclusive settings. Candidates will have established or potential for a record of research aligned with their expertise. We expect candidates will support our mission of developing life-long learners and strong advocates; providing co-taught, field-intensive, interdisciplinary experiences; and serving diverse individuals using an assets-based viewpoint. We seek candidates with a commitment to working effectively with students, faculty, and staff from diverse backgrounds. Candidates must be committed to working with individuals with all intersections of identity.
Responsibilities
Teaching in online graduate and face-to-face undergraduate programs, advising, and field supervision;
Maintaining a strong research program and publishing in peer-reviewed journals, while building and/or maintaining a competitive, externally fundable/funded research program;
Developing and revising graduate and undergraduate courses in special education teacher preparation;
Engaging in service to college, department, program, and field-based professions; and collaboration with colleagues and school-based partners to ensure program quality and maintain CAEP
Minimum Qualifications
Earned doctorate in Special Education or a related field (by the time of hire)
A minimum of three years' experience and expertise in special education service delivery
Demonstrated potential for successful teaching in higher education and building inclusive learning spaces
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with clinical supervision
An emphasis in provision and planning for transition services
Experience with online teaching and clinical supervision
Higher Education teaching experience
