Kehillah Jewish High School is seeking a full-time experienced Learning Specialist to support students with learning needs through case management, collaboration and consultation with classroom teachers, and partnership with parents. The ideal candidate must be an expert in understanding the strengths of students with high-incidence disabilities and learning differences, and a proven practitioner in the implementation of research-based interventions and teaching learning strategies. To be successful in this position, you should have an insightful understanding of effective teaching methods for different learning styles, have excellent listening and observational skills, and have an empathetic mindset. Must be currently certified and have high school experience. This position is available July 1, 2021.
Support students with learning differences academically and socially using research-based interventions and accommodations.
Provide service directly to students individually, in small groups, and within the classrooms, including coaching students in executive functioning skills.
Design and maintain dynamic student learning support plans when needed and guide teachers and parents to interpret and implement these plans.
Coach classroom teachers to meet the individual needs of students and to spark student motivation and love of learning.
Administer assessments and analyze data. Work with various teams (administrators, teachers, grade-level) to facilitate analysis of data provided by diagnostics, common assessments, and formative assessments, and design intervention plans accordingly.
Lead educators in training and occasional school-wide presentations in UDL, executive functioning, and modular learning interventions.
Collaborate with teachers and parents to recommend outside testing, tutoring, or other indicated special services.
Cultivate a network of external resource providers, as well as partner with current providers, such as tutors, doctors, Occupational Therapists, Speech and Language Pathologists, and more.
Use evidence-based or research-based strategies to increase student self-management, choice-making, and independence.
Utilize psycho-educational test results to determine reasonable accommodations within a school-based program.
In collaboration with the Center staff, manage the proctoring and accommodations process with College Boards and ACT.
Recommend and use instructional and assistive technology for students with disabilities.
Use research-based lessons and collaborate to design curriculum for Learning Seminar class.
Confidently and tactfully communicate with students, teachers, and families.
Attend and actively participate in staff/faculty meetings and provide input regarding the planning of instructional goals, objectives, and methods.
Set student goals and progress monitoring.
Prepare for and actively participate in all school activities, faculty meetings, and conferences, including those with parents, during and after school hours as necessary.
Cultivate collaboration, transparency, inclusion, and excellence in a dynamic learning community.
Live in the State of California and work on campus during the Employee’s regularly scheduled hours.
Have in-depth knowledge of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) curricula, assessment tools, and best teaching practices to support, implement, and evaluate differentiated instruction.
Experienced with the proctoring and accommodations process with College Boards and ACT.
Dedicated to ensuring that recommended student supports/accommodations are accessible and equitable for all students.
Proficiency and interest in technology to support differentiated learning.
Experienced in case management using positive behavioral supports and current behavior practices.
Understand and demonstrate data-driven instructional practices and behavior management strategies.
Professionally engaged, strong work ethic, and an excellent collaborator with openness to feedback and improvement.

Master’s degree required in a related field.
Learning Specialist credential in Mild/Moderate Disabilities.
A minimum of three years of successful learning specialist experience.
Experienced reviewing psychoeducational testing, developing related student accommodation plans, and tracking progress.
