The Department of Human Services, Division of Rehabilitation Services, Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) program is now accepting resumes for the position of Director (State Title: Rehab Superintendent) of the Tennessee Rehabilitation Center (TRC) at Smyrna. The residential training center with a team of over 100 professionals is one of only eight comprehensive, vocational training centers in the nation. Serving participants from the VR program from across the state, the center provides vocational focused training, hands on practical application of skills both on-site and in the community through internships with local business partners, and other training and support services that assist eligible VR participants obtain industry recognized credentials in 10 areas of study and the list is growing.
Under the general supervision of the Director of Operations for the Division, the Director is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing day to day administrative operations of the center with five direct reports. The Director leads an interdisciplinary team of professionals and support staff in maintaining a high level of accountability through various functions and strategic planning. The center offers a residential component which is maintained twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. The Director is responsible for the work outcomes of multiple training curricula as well as assisting in the development and execution of new initiatives that align with the mission of competitive, integrated employment for individuals with disabilities as outlined by the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA).
