Purpose: Provides Agency with support of persons with disabilities attending SOAR365 in both center-based and non-center-based programs including one or more of the following program areas: Work-Force Development and Supported Employment, Day Support, Children and Youth, Respite.
Description: Full time employment for individual who is responsible for coordinating and implementing employment support for persons with disabilities. This employment specialist will be working with adults ages 18 to retirement.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Provides direct training, supervision and support to consumers enrolled in the Customized/Supported Employment program.
Implements activities using specified training techniques and interventions related to but not limited to developing, maintaining and strengthening employment skills.
Assists in the development, implementation and monitoring of an effective instructional program for 18-22-year-old adults with disabilities in areas of career exploration and planning, independent living, self-advocacy, and community involvement.
Assists in the identification and implementation of processes, procedures, and best practices aligned to evidence-based practices
Provides transportation in agency provided vehicle when required.
Provides job development in assessing, task analysis and training individuals.
Provides Follow Along services to periodically review individuals job performance as well as an employer’s satisfaction level regarding services.
Completes all documentation for assigned consumers in a timely manner.
Completes all assigned tasks related to program objectives as defined by manager.
Assists in the development and implementation of career fairs, transition fairs, RVA transition meetings, and family workshops.
Identifies program problem areas and recommends solutions to program manager.
Attends all training sessions and staff meetings as may be required.
Provides transition focused technical assistance and professional development in collaboration with community agencies and other relevant transition stakeholders.
Flexible Scheduling (nights and weekends required)
Assures compliance with agency policies and procedures related to safety, discrimination/harassment, the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPPA), and the agency’s human rights plan.
Obtains and maintains certifications as required by SOAR365.
Knowledge of research and evidence-based practice in transition, career development, vocational training, and school to career programming.
Ability to collaborate with other SOAR 365 departments to creatively seek job opportunities.
Requires program Development skills and the ability to supervise clients enrolled in the program and to guide staff.
Ability to implement individualized client training plans and supervise individuals and group client activities.
Awareness of the needs of persons with disabilities, with the ability to apply positive behavioral support in meeting their needs.
Ability to creatively solve issues related to perceived barriers to successful employment of assigned clients.
