The Learning Center at Flint Hill School offers personalized attention and specialized academic help to students in junior Kindergarten through 12th grade who learn differently.
The Director of the Learning Center supervises the allocation and implementation of all services provided by Learning Specialists in all three divisions to support students with identified learning differences (e.g., dyslexia, learning disabilities, Attention- Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorders), including the determination of services to be offered to individual students and awareness- building exercises intended for faculty and parents.

Required Qualifications of a Successful Candidate:
A Master’s degree in Special Education, Educational Psychology, or related field.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Deep knowledge of dyslexia, Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorders, other learning disabilities, and related issues. Ability to interpret results of psycho-education testing.
Deep knowledge of child and adolescent learning and development. Demonstrated interest and skill working with this population.
Demonstrated commitment to racial justice and equity and experience working in a diverse, multicultural school community.
Preferred Qualifications of a Successful Candidate:
Minimum of 5-years of meaningful experience in a role(s) supporting specialized learning.
Knowledge of Orton-Gillingham Reading Instruction, Lindamood-Bell Learning Processes, Handwriting Without Tears, and similar instructional approaches. Knowledge of academic coaching methods. Knowledge of the practices of Universal Design for Learning. Knowledge of development of executive functioning.
Ability to design, coordinate and implement formal accommodation plans.
Classroom teaching experience.
Support for and knowledge of Responsive Classroom and Developmental Design.
Evidence of being highly organized and deadline oriented
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
