The Department of Education and Special Education is seeking two full-time tenure-track Special Education faculty members to join the growing undergraduate and graduate programs at Mansfield University. The two successful candidates will take a primary role in providing instruction and supervision using research and pedagogical best practices, student advisement, recruitment, and other duties that will enhance the department and university.
Examples of Duties
Each teaching assignment may include both undergraduate and graduate courses specifically focused in Special Education. The successful candidates will work closely with public schools and education agencies; regularly supervise field experiences; advise undergraduate and graduate students as needed; assist in the program accreditation process; and participate in department, professional unit, and university committees. The successful candidates are expected to teach effectively and advise a diverse student population, engage in ongoing research and other discipline-related scholarly activities, and make professional and university service contributions. Demonstrated achievement in teaching, scholarship, and service is required for tenure and promotion.
Earned doctorate from a regionally accredited institution in Special Education.
Evidence of at least three years of full-time successful Special Education teaching experience in Pre-K - grade 12 or 21 years of age.
State-issued teaching certification in Special Education.
Experience supervising field experiences
Experience teaching students with emotional/behavioral issues and/or students with low incidence disabilities
Evidence of ability to teach online effectively
Demonstrated ability to teach graduate education courses successfully
Demonstrated interest in research in education
Additional preparation and experience in teaching of students with communication disorders and/or students who are English Language Learners is desirable,
Administrative experience in Special Education in schools or educational agencies.
College-level teaching experience.
Demonstrated excellence in organizational and communication skills
Ability to effectively teach and evaluate students
