Instructor of Special Education, Department of Instruction and Curriculum Leadership, The University of Memphis. Required: earned M.S. (doctorate preferred) in Special Education or closely related area; three years (five years preferred) Special Education teaching in K-12 settings; academic credentials reflecting sufficient knowledge in multiple special education courses, e.g., overview of special education, special education assessment, teaching methods, behavior management, language, professional practices, early childhood special education, or working with families; evidence or potential for successful teacher candidate supervision and related clinical experiences. Desired is commitment to cultural responsiveness, equity, and inclusiveness, addressing the needs of a diverse student body; demonstrated knowledge of and experience working with students, faculty, and schools in diverse settings (urban, suburban, and rural); evidence of or potential for collaboration and co-teaching, technology utilization and online instruction; commitment to facilitating positive change in teacher education programs; knowledge of EDTPA and various teacher evaluation systems.
Master’s degree in Special Education or closely related field
Minimum of three years’ experience teaching Special Education in K-12 settings
Academic credentials reflecting a sufficient knowledge base in special education
Doctoral degree in Special Education or closely related field
Demonstrated commitment to cultural responsiveness, equity, and inclusiveness, addressing the needs of a diverse student body
Demonstrated knowledge of and experience working with students, faculty, and schools in diverse settings (urban, suburban, and rural)
