The successful candidate will be able to teach content area methods courses (e.g. Characteristics and Curricular Adaptations, Consultation and Collaboration, Assessment, Positive Behavioral Support, Instructional Strategies, etc.) and conduct field experience supervision in the area of mild/moderate disabilities with a special focus on clinical training of students in special education assessment, and academic as well as behavioral interventions. Other related duties include advising, committee work, a program of scholarship, and service to the profession and the community.
Required Qualifications: 1) Doctorate in special education or related field from an accredited institution (ABD candidates may apply). 2) Minimum of two years of public school or community agency teaching and/or clinical experience serving students with mild to moderate disabilities in cross-cultural settings. 3) Demonstrated ability to teach master’s-level Special Education courses. 4) Evidence of, or promise for, supervision of master’s students. 5) Evidence of, or promise for, scholarship (e.g., conference presentations, scholarly publications, grant writing).
Preferred Qualifications: 1) Demonstrated ability to work effectively with candidates, staff, faculty, and partners. 2) Evidence of excellent interpersonal skills (problem solving, conflict resolution, collaboration). 3) Experience supervising research of MA level candidates. 4) Experience with instructional technology. 5) Experience with online teaching. 6) Established record of success in serving linguistically and ethically diverse populations. 7) Demonstrated commitment to diversity. 8) Experience with alternative special education delivery systems that integrate special and general education services.
