The Department of Education at Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts (MCLA) invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position in Education at the assistant professor rank to begin September, 2019. Candidates must be qualified to teach undergraduate licensure methods courses, as well as provide Field Placement supervision. Instructional background must provide evidence of preparing students for careers in both general and special education with an emphasis on curriculum development, pedagogical practices/strategies, assessment methodology, and social competence.
A Ph.D. or Ed.D. is required, with research experience, post-doctoral work, and undergraduate teaching experience preferred. MCLA seeks a candidate committed to high quality teaching, undergraduate mentoring and advising, and an active research program that embraces student-teacher collaborations.
Earned doctorate from an accredited institution of higher education and postdoctoral experience at the time of application
Specialization in one or more of the following areas: Special Education and/or Literacy
Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse student and faculty groups
Evidence of commitment to excellence in teaching and scholarship in a small liberal arts college environment
Advising and mentoring experience with undergraduate students
Active research agenda
Potential to establish a sustainable, externally funded research program
Publication record in scholarly journals
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Active participation in the shared governance process at departmental, specialized committees, and college-wide levels
